Cohen Capital Corporation is a multigenerational family office primarily focused on real estate development, investment, and management. The company is a singular owner or general partner in over 1,400,000 SF of net rentable area across a variety of asset classes.
Now in its third generation of succession, the company started as the Sunland Mills Corporation and was founded by Sam and Abe Cohen in 1938. Originally focused on land for feed and livestock production, it was later incorporated as Sunco Inc. in 1970 and then eventually Cohen Capital Corp. as the sophisticated real estate operation took shape under Warren Cohen’s leadership through the 1980’s, 90’s, and 2000’s.
Collectively, the principals have now been involved in the acquisition, development, and disposition of real estate in excess of $1.5B. The current portfolio includes mixed use urban development projects, flex industrial, commercial office, medical office, neighborhood retail, and land. The company also has an active ownership and management role in the development company, D4 Urban and property management entity, CFPM LLC.
The majority of Cohen Capital Corporation’s assets are located in Colorado. The Cohen family has been deeply committed to building community in the state for well over a century. Beyond real estate, the family has been involved in philanthropy and leadership roles in various non-profit and religious minded organizations in Denver and beyond.

Dan Cohen • President
Dan Cohen is the president of Cohen Capital Corporation and is responsible for the active
management of the company’s various investments and partnerships. Mr. Cohen is a principal
and serves as Development Partner of D4 Urban, master developer of Broadway Park, a high density, urban, mixed-use neighborhood scale development totaling 75 acres in Denver and one of Cohen Capital Corporation’s largest investments.
Prior to founding D4 Urban, Mr. Cohen was the development manager of Battlement
Mesa, where he was responsible for development efforts within the 3,200-acre PUD in unincorporated Garfield County, Colorado. In his role at Battlement Mesa, Mr. Cohen oversaw entitlements, design, construction, and management of active development projects as well as serving as the developer/declarant board director on the Battlement Mesa Metropolitan District.
Through his 15 years of diverse real estate experience, Mr. Cohen has been involved in a variety of complex
developments ranging from workforce housing on the western slope of Colorado to transit oriented development and public private partnerships in urban settings. He has developed single family, multifamily, and retail and has significant experience with large scale infrastructure projects. Mr. Cohen has served on the board of various Special Districts responsible for the financing, construction, and operation of public infrastructure and he is currently the president of the Broadway Park North and Broadway Park South Metropolitan Districts, a role in which he has served for over a decade.
Beyond his professional career, Mr. Cohen has been a board director for several non-profit institutions. He served an extended period of three years as a Peace Corps volunteer in a rural community in Ecuador where his efforts focused on improving land uses and income generating activities in and around the Quijos River. He is fluent in Spanish and
Portuguese.
Warren Cohen • Chairman
Warren P. Cohen is the Chairman of Cohen Capital Corporation He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Colorado in 1971, a certificate of Certified Public Accountancy in 1973, and a Colorado Real Estate license in
1974. Mr. Cohen started his career at Touche Ross & Company (a predecessor of Deloitte &
Touche) in 1971. Transforming the Cohen family’s Sunland Mills entity, he went on to form
Cohen Capital Corporation in 1978.
Since founding Cohen Capital Corporation in 1978, Mr. Cohen has acquired, developed,
financed and managed real estate investment properties—including 3,265 apartment
units, 1,649,091 square feet of industrial and commercial buildings, and 1,368 single-family home sites. In 1984 Mr.
Cohen co-founded MegaBank Financial Corporation and served on its board and various committees until 2000.
As a National Bank Holding Company, MegaBank opened and operated nine commercial banks in the Denver
metropolitan area. In April of 2000 MegaBank was acquired by Compass Bancshares (CBSS Nasdaq) for $94 million.
In 1996, along with Jim Frank, Cohen started the assemblage of what is now known as Broadway Park. It
encompasses an approximate 75 acres in the inner loop of the Denver Central Business District. Together, they
spearheaded the entitlements for over 10 million square feet of mixed use, infill urban development. Mr. Cohen has
served on various public company boards and has been extensively involved on the boards of numerous charitable
organizations—many in leadership positions.
